Transform your future with AAIS Learning

Python Programming

From your first script to building web apps, GUIs, data visualisations and machine learning models — this course takes you through the Python language module by module, at a pace that suits you.

Course curriculum

Twelve modules, one complete language

Every learner moves through the same 12 modules in order, from Python fundamentals through to databases, GUIs, machine learning and web development — with a tutor who paces each session around you.

🐍
MODULE 01

Introduction to Python

A complete introduction to Python — its history, features and advantages — followed by installing Python and setting up a development environment across Windows, macOS and Linux using IDEs like PyCharm, Jupyter Notebook and VS Code. Covers writing and running Python scripts, Python syntax, indentation, comments, docstrings, and managing versions with virtual environments.

🔤
MODULE 02

Basic Python Syntax and Data Types

Python's core variables and data types (int, float, string, boolean), type conversion, and the full range of operators — arithmetic, assignment, comparison, logical and bitwise. Covers string manipulation and formatting, the math module, input/output operations, conditional statements, and for and while loops.

🧩
MODULE 03

Functions and Modules

Defining and calling functions, working with positional, keyword and default arguments, and understanding variable scope across local, global and nonlocal contexts. Covers recursion, lambda functions, and Python's built-in functions and modules such as math, random and datetime.

📦
MODULE 04

Composite Data Types

Creating and working with lists — indexing, slicing, list methods such as append, extend, insert, remove and pop, and list comprehension. Covers tuples — creating them, accessing elements and tuple methods — plus their immutable nature, and dictionaries: creating them, accessing elements, using dictionary methods, and iterating through their contents.

📁
MODULE 05

File Handling and Exception Handling

Opening, reading and writing text and binary files using the open function and with statement, plus file and directory manipulation with the os and shutil modules. Covers exception handling with try-except-else-finally, handling specific exceptions, and raising custom exceptions.

🖼️
MODULE 06

Building GUI Applications with Tkinter

Introduction to GUI programming and setting up a GUI application with Tkinter, creating widgets such as buttons, labels and entry fields. Covers layout management with pack, grid and place, event handling, and best practices for building interactive, user-friendly interfaces.

📊
MODULE 07

Data Visualization with Matplotlib and Seaborn

An introduction to data visualisation, then creating basic plots with Matplotlib — line plots, scatter plots, bar plots and histograms — and customising them with labels, titles, colours and styles. Covers statistical visualisation with Seaborn, including box plots, violin plots and pair plots, plus plotting geographic data with Cartopy.

🗄️
MODULE 08

Database Management with Python

Introduction to databases and database management systems, connecting to databases in Python, and performing CRUD (Create, Read, Update, Delete) operations. Covers SQLite and MySQL operations in Python, database transactions and error handling, and using ORMs such as SQLAlchemy.

🤖
MODULE 09

Introduction to Machine Learning with Python

An overview of machine learning concepts and the scikit-learn library, covering loading and preprocessing datasets. Explores supervised learning (classification, regression) and unsupervised learning (clustering, dimensionality reduction), plus evaluating and optimising machine learning models, model deployment and integration with Python applications.

🏗️
MODULE 10

Object-Oriented Programming (OOP)

Understanding OOP concepts — classes, objects, methods and attributes — and creating classes and objects in Python, including constructors and destructors. Covers inheritance and method overriding, encapsulation, polymorphism, special (magic) methods, and abstract classes and interfaces.

🌐
MODULE 11

Advanced Web Development with Django

Introduction to the Django framework, its project structure and configuration. Covers creating Django views and URL patterns, along with Django models and database migrations.

🧪
MODULE 12

Introduction to Web Development with Flask

An overview of web development concepts and an introduction to the Flask framework. Covers setting up a Flask application, plus routing and URL mapping.
