13+ Exam Courses
The 13+ (Common Entrance) exam is taken by students in Year 8 (aged 12–13) who are applying for admission into independent senior schools for Year 9 entry. It is primarily used by prestigious independent schools, such as Eton College, Harrow School, and Winchester College.
The 13+ exam is more advanced than the 11+ and tests a broader range of subjects, including:
English – Advanced comprehension, essay writing, and grammar
Mathematics – Algebra, geometry, problem-solving, and word problems
Science – Physics, Chemistry, and Biology topics
Verbal & Non-Verbal Reasoning – Logical thinking and spatial awareness
Humanities (History, Geography, Religious Studies) – In some schools
Modern Languages (French, Spanish, Latin, etc.) – Required for some independent schools
There are two main types of 13+ assessments:
Common Entrance (CE) Exam – Set by the ISEB (Independent Schools Examinations Board) and used by most independent schools
School-Specific Entrance Exams – Some top schools, such as Westminster School or Eton, set their own rigorous entrance tests
