BTEC Curriculum (Business and Technology Education Council) Courses
BTECs at Key Stage 4 are designed to provide students with practical, industry-relevant skills and knowledge. They are often offered as an alternative or in addition to GCSEs.
BTEC Subjects at Key Stage 4
BTEC Business
Introduces students to the world of business, developing basic business knowledge and skills.
Core Content: Understanding business environments, customer service, basic finance, and entrepreneurship.
Role-playing business scenarios, creating marketing campaigns, and conducting market research.
BTEC ICT
Develops digital literacy and basic IT skills.
Core Content: Computer hardware and software, internet safety, word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.
Uses computer applications for problem-solving, creating digital content, and developing basic programming skills
BTEC Hospitality
Introduces students to the hospitality industry, developing customer service and food service skills.
Core Content: Food hygiene, health and safety, customer service, and basic food preparation.
BTEC Construction
Introduces students to the construction industry, developing basic building skills and health and safety knowledge.
Core Content: Construction materials, tools, and equipment, health and safety regulations, and basic building techniques.
BTEC Engineering
Introduces students to engineering principles and practices.
Core Content: Engineering design, materials, and processes, problem-solving, and teamwork.
BTEC Health and Social Care
Develops understanding of health and social care principles, and basic care skills.
Core Content: Human biology, communication skills, personal hygiene, and health and safety.
BTEC Applied Sciences
Combines scientific theory with practical application in real-world contexts.
Core Content: Scientific principles, laboratory techniques, data analysis, and research methods.

BTEC Hospitality and Catering
Develops skills for the hospitality industry, including food preparation, service, and management.
